DC’s Sought After Trainer: Ingrid Nelson





We caught up with Ingrid Nelson, a Washington D.C. based Nike trainer,  the Founder of her newly launch The ING Group, a PureRyde Instructor, Equinox, and Sweetgreen Fitness Ambassador who was named D.C.'s best personal trainer in 2014 by Washingtonian Magazine.

We got the scoop on from her very early fitness beginnings to her evolving role as an elite fitness trainer entrepreneur.

TUA: What inspired you to be in the fitness industry? And how did you become a Nike Trainer?

ING:  I had a very active childhood – I was a competitive figure skater and continued that journey into my young adulthood however in my mid-20’s I was stricken with a virus that took over my joints. I went through treatments, recovered and I am here today, teaching classes, coaching/training clients!  

Nike approached me 2 years ago, in their search of DC trainers.  I was chosen and I have been part of the Nike Trainer program ever since.


TUA: What are the must-haves in your gym bag?

ING: Extra pair of Nike running shoes (running to and from work, class, home), body polish, and accessories like jewelry a pair earrings/bracelet.


TUA: What is next for Ingrid Nelson?

ING: I am expanding my training business – I recently launched ‘The ING Group’.  The Ing Group will also have additionally trainers that will carry on the philosophy and each trainer will bring their own style and expertise to The ING Group.
